Reza Abedini (born 1967)
An International Conference on the
Philosophy of Art, Tehran Museum
of Contemporary Art
2001, offset, 98x68 cm
Reza Abedini used a photographic
profile of a young man in silhouette
for a collage of type and images to
promote the conference. There is also a logo for the conference Art and Thought in the shape of an earring, placed separately on the right side of the poster. The designer uses layering of Latin and Farsi alphabets. He works with the contrast of a dark silhouette and white typography, which would
become his artistic idiom. The red
frame in the eye area accentuates
the importance of an artist's visual
perception as the basis for the philosophy of art, because the human
soul is stimulated chiefly through visual impulses.
